Sharing the Planet - Animals

Human beings have a close relationship with animals. A small ant in the grass, a happy fish in the water, tadpoles, or even a kitten on the roadside, can all arouse children's interest. With everyone's expectation, we started our exploration journey of the IB interdisciplinary theme, "Sharing the Planet". Children actively explored the habitat of animals, became aware of the ways animals assist human beings, and understood the impact of human beings on animals. We tried to bring children closer to animals in a variety of ways. Teachers created smart learning spaces and carried out a variety of exploration activities, so that children could improve their understanding of animals through games and grow into active and caring learners.



人类和动物有着密切的关系。草丛里的一只小蚂蚁,水里欢快的小鱼、蝌蚪,甚至是路边的一只小野猫,都能勾起幼儿的兴趣。在大家的期待下我们开启了IB超学科主题“共享地球”的探究之旅,幼儿积极探究动物的栖息地,感受动物对人类的帮助,了解人类给动物带来的影响。我们试图通过多种途径拉进幼儿与动物的距离。老师们创设灵动的学习空间,开展丰富多彩的探究活动,让幼儿在游戏中提升对动物的认知,成长为积极探、懂得关爱的学习者。


第一条线索 First line of inquiry

动物在不同的栖息地生存。

Animals live in different habitats. 

Children learned the basic characteristics of animals, and thought about what different animals tails, fur, shadows and footprints look like.

By listening to and imitating the movements and sounds of various animals, children gained a better understanding of their basic characteristics.

他们倾听并模仿各种动物的动作、声音,对动物的基本特征有了更深的了解。

Through reading picture books and watching videos, children learned that different animals live in different habitats: forests, oceans, deserts, polar regions... They started thinking about how they could collect materials to create habitats.Working together collaboratively, they made and displayed different habitats, and "sent" each little animal home.


通过绘本阅读和观看视频,幼儿了解到不同的动物生活在不同的栖息地:森林、 海洋、沙漠、极地......, 大家开始思考如何收集材料制作栖息地。大家在相互合作的过程中制作并展示各种不同的栖息地,把每一个小动物都“送”回家。

走出幼儿园,来到开心农场,我们在大自然中奔跑,在欢快的农场氛围里观察、认识各种各样的小动物。

We left the kindergarten for a school trip to Happy Farm” We ran in nature, and explored the happy farming atmosphere to observe and know a variety of small animals.

第二条线索 Second line of inquiry

动物帮助人们  Animals help people.

幼儿进行角色扮演加深对动物本领的认识。他们模仿最喜欢的“汪汪队”,了解与人类特殊工作相关的动物朋友,如:导盲犬,警犬、消防犬等。

Children role-played to enhance their understanding of animal skills. They imitated their favorite show "Paw Patrol" to get to know the animal friends related to special work, such as: guide dogs, police dogs, fire dogs and so on

最后大家从日常生活出发,探索动物带给人类的便利。用剪一剪,粘一粘的方法探究不同材质的衣服、帽子、袜子,知道羊毛可以做成毛衣、围巾;鸭绒、鹅绒可以做成羽绒服,帮助人类保暖,认识不同的蛋类和品尝奶制品,了解动物带给人类的帮助及馈赠,懂得感恩。

Finally, we explored the convenience animals bring to our daily lives. We used the method of cutting and sticking to explore clothes, hats and socks of different materials, and learned that wool can be made into sweaters and scarves; Duck down and goose down can be made into down jackets to help people keep warm. We learned about different eggs and tasted dairy products, growing to understand the help and gifts of animals to human beings, and thinking about how to be grateful.

第三条线索 Third line of inquiry

人类的行动影响动物。

Human actions impact animals

K1A和K1B的小朋友们制作了保护野生动物宣传海报,化身小小宣传大使,在校内和家中、社区里积极地呼吁身边的人们一起保护野生动物!幼儿锻炼了社交技能、沟通技能的同时,也更懂得关爱。

The children of K1A and K1B made wildlife protection posters and became little ambassadors. They actively appealed to people around them to protect wild animals in school, at home and in the community. Children practiced social skills, communication skills at the same time, developed as caring individuals.

K1C and K1D launched the "Baby Egg Protection" campaign to foster responsibility in young children. They took their eggs with them during lots of different activities. Whether it was games or sports, they carefully cared for their "eggs" and discussed their "egg-protecting tips". Subconsciously, their communication skills and self-management skills were developed and improved.

K1C和K1D发起了“保护蛋宝宝”的活动,以此来培养幼儿的责任感。他们用不同的办法将蛋宝宝带在身边,无论是游戏、运动都小心翼翼地呵护着自己的“蛋宝宝”,讨论着自己的“护蛋诀窍”, 不知不觉中,沟通技能和自我管理技能得到锻炼和提升。

Finally, the four K1 classes actively reflected that they needed to not only protect the environment and animals themselves, but to encourage people in the community to join in and protect animals through different actions.

最后,小班四个班级的小朋友们积极反思,不仅自己要保护环境和动物,还倡导让社区里的人们一起加入,大家一起用不同的行动保护了动物。
